2014 Sportsters??? Your Wants/Hopes/Opinons???
Anyone hear anything about the 2014's?
I know Harley is dropping the XR1200X and other non-Splrtster models.
I'm pretty sure the Iron, Forty Eight and Seventy Two are not going anywhere but I could be wrong on any.
I'd like to see another Nightster style bike simply because you have the blacked out Iron, chromed out 72 and middle of the road 48, that leaves a skinny front tire Nightster style bike with that matte finish instead of chrome look. I doubt this will happen, they discontinued the Nightster for a reason.
What would you like to see new, if anything for 2014 Sportsters?

More color options for the iron again. I remember the matte yellow they had when it first came out, I thought it was awesome. Though seeing as I won't be buying a bike any time soon I'm sure they don't care.
Edit:
Having looked at the good ideas people have, how about a "build it yourself" option?
Want a 48 with a 4.5 gallon tank? We can do that.
Iron with a 1200? We can do that.
SuperLow with a 21" front wheel? No problem.
Custom with an iron/48/72 rear fender? Done.
Basically, you start with a frame and build from there, it would be more expensive but many people would be willing to pay.

What Harley will most likely do is offer another model that is just an aesthetic variation on a theme.
What I'd like to see is a 6-speed with overdrive. That seems like it's possible if the MoCo wanted.
Another, much less likely, would be to offer bigger engine offerings. A 1000cc and 1350cc stock Sporty in place of the 883 and 1200 would be great to see.

They need to do this- Top 10 Things in no particular order.
1. Get rid of the headlight eyebrow thing permanently and make all Sporty's have a triple tree mounted headlight.
2. Make the oil tank/battery cover the same color as the rest of the painted parts.
3. For the 48, have both fenders match the chosen color not just the damn tank, never understood that.
4. Put the more layed down speedo from the 48 on all Sporty models.
5. More color and graphics choices for all Sporty models.
6. New wheel options for the 48.
7. 6th gear for at least 1200 models.
8. New stock air cleaner cover that doesn't hide the entire engine.
9. A middle of the road 1200 chrome vs black wise skinny tire model to fit between the 48 and 72, basically bring back the Nightster or something similar.
10. LED lighting standard on all models.

how about an 80" sportster with a 6 speed? as for the 80" part, a new set of flywheels would do that easily enough (there should be plenty of room for a 4.25" stroke in the cases as they are- it would only increase the diameter by .44"). It would be nice to be able to purchase an 80ish hp bike with a 6 speed, without all the big twin baggage (ie; excessive weight, primaries that seem to leak no matter what, lifters and cam chain issues, etc).
and while I am free of the bounds of reality- how about a larger fuel tank option? (not standard on any model, but optional on all of them- like a 5.5 gallon?)
But now back to reality...

BETTER SUSPENSION!

I think a better suspension is a pipe dream. It's my contention that the MoCo purposely make the seat and suspension on the Sportster line crappy so there is a clear improvement from the BT bikes like the Dyna and Softail. It makes it easier to sell people on the BT "upgrade". By using aftermarket seats and shocks/springs, the Sporty can ride pretty damn close to the Dyna.
In stock form, there isn't a huge difference in the quickness of a Sporty compared to the BTs. To me, the biggest advantage the Dynas and Softails have is on the highway where the extra cubic inches and gearing offer better long haul riding.
That's why a 6 speed Sporty would be great. I don't think it would cannibalize the Dyna sales much either.
All of the above are just my opinions. YMMV

I would love to see a Sportster come out that is already a Bobber.. With Drag bars, Side License Plate, front turn sigs on the forks... Rear Break light over license plate... Really Fat tire in the rear with Matching Rear Fender...all that... AND 6 SPEED GEAR BOX, From the factory.. With some really sik pipes!
