OK, reputation means a lot to me. I have read through the literature and watched the videos, and this looks like a pretty simple job really. Having some diehard fans here does help.

Thanks for all the feedback, it does help.

I've had very good luck with Wiseco pistons. Done maybe a dozen 883 to 1200 conversions over the years. Wiseco conversion pistons weigh the same as, or slightly less than the stock cast 883 pistons, so balance is unaffected (or slightly better). If you are looking for maximum power, I'm sure the extra 50cc will help. If you just want more power riding down the road, the 1200 will make a substantial difference. Plan on another $200-250 to bore and hone your barrels.

As long as the heads are off, that is a real good time to get them upgraded with 1200 valves. This isn't cheap. (I charge $650 which includes full porting, decking, etc. just for reference.) If you haven't done so already, this would also be a good time for some cams (Andrews N2s?) In fact if you haven't changed cams yet, you may want to do just that for now and see how you like it.

Confused yet?

Thanks Jack

I have found several Wiseco kits that come with the new jugs as well, for the $500. I presume this would preclude that additional $200-250, right?

My initial objective was to boost the displacement, and if I wanted to spend more on this bike look at Buell heads, new ignition, etc.

I may be missing something, but I don't see a Wiseco Sportster kit that includes cylinders in their catalogue. Hammer and others, including S&S, sell a kit with pistons matched to cylinders, plus gaskets etc, a one-stop-shop. Hammer is also a Sporty specialist who can provide kits and expertise from bolt-in kit for road use, through to a race-tuned engine, so they are a very appealing firm to buy from and are popular in HDF.
