Default 77 Ironhead???

Looking at this 77 Ironhead for sale, and the guy says it has an 83 frame. I've looked at some pics of some 83 sportsters and it doesn't look the same to me. Anyone have any idea what the frame is, or could tell me how to tell what it is. Going to go look at it in person tomorrow.

the kind of frame you have on this bike has been produced till 1978, it changed in 1979.

Looks like the stock frame that's been customized in the neck area. Not an '83 frame, for sure.

This is what I was thinking it might be. Going to look at the bike tonight and get a closer look.

Nice looking ride. Take a good look at the welds and workmanship.

Me personally, I'm weary of frames that are cut and welded. Who did the job? Are then any good? Unless it's an aftermarket frame like Paughco. Another thing, the modified frame does NOT add to the overall value of the bike. It can actually lower it.

I'm not a fan of home chopped frames.

I second that. If you are heading down the road on two wheels u want to make sure mods have been done properly.

Went and looked at the bike and the frame just behind the neck has ben boxed in. Whoever did it seemed to do a pretty good job. The owner says its an 83 Sportster frame.

If you have a Harley frame you still have a HARLEY. Everything else is a want to be.
