Default Wiring Harness Question

Guys,

Getting towards the end of the rebuild and decided to order a brand new wiring harness. This is probably a stupid question, but last thing I want to do at this point is start frying crap! In the manual where it shows at the connectors, there are some wires that look to dead end at the connector?? Doesn't make sense to me.. what do they connect to on the other side of the connector? Or are they supposed to be bridged to another connection and if so, how the hell you tell which one?? There are more in the pic, but the arrows are the ones for examples for starters. Please let me know...

I've got a '99 Sportster so our wiring won't be exactly the same. From looking at the diagrams I've got, the orange wire off of the Tach is Power (+12V). As far as the other wires go, they appear to be power and/or ground cables as well.

The manual I have is just like yours; but I went the the dealership and they have more detailed wiring diagrams. I asked and they made a photocopy for me. They might for you too.

Appreciate the feedback. It does appear that they will all need 12v acc power. But I will check with the dealer.. good idea.

Your wiring schematic appears to be color coded visually. Is there a second page that might include the routing? It's not uncommon. In general, orange and blue carry +12V DC from a fuse or breaker.

At Motorcycle Manual Downloads, you can buy a PDF (download) version of a Service Manual covering 1986 - 2003 Sportsters for $19. I bought one covering 1984 -1999 Softails and it included schematics for each of those year models. Hopefully, it would include more comprehensive schematics for your year model.

This site also has what might be the same manual for $6. I haven't purchased from them.
