New 48, Oil light popped on!
I picked up my first bike today, a brand new 48 with 2 miles on it. I am new to riding so I rode it around town only for about an hour this afternoon, never going over 2500 rpm, 3rd gear or 35mph. When I stopped in the driveway, right before I turned the bike off I noticed the oil light came on. I don't believe the oil light had been on prior to pulling in to a stop, but I'm not 100% sure. I think if you are idled it's not necessarily a bad sign that the oil light popped on, but any insight and direction would be greatly appreciated! Any testing I should do, I'm afraid to start the engine up again at this point.

My oil light came on when I rode my 48 home from the dealership, 3 miles on the clock at the start of the 15 mile ride home. The ride was all freeway miles, so cruising around 3,500 rpm.
I know, not the proper way to break in a bike, but oh well. About 3 miles from home I noticed my oil light on, so I pulled the clutch, killed the motor, and pulled over. Checked the oil and the level was good, so let the bike cool off for a few minutes then fired her up again.
No oil light after startup and rode home without issue. Since then I have ridden another 250 miles and no issues, including highway blasts and back road cruises. The dealership checked her out and did not find any codes or anything. So hopefully ours were both just momentary hiccups, growing pains.

Had this happen to me. Dealer gave me the ol' "couldn't find anything wrong with it." They told me they don't think it's anything mechanical. They also told me that it should be okay to ride as long as it doesn't make any funny noises. I'm just going to ride it till I have time to take it in and if it slings a rod through the block. it's on them for telling me to ignore the light. I'll have it looked at again when I finish breaking it in.

Protect yourself because if it happens, the service adviser is going to do what it takes to protect their job.
Get it in writing.
