Default 250 miles too late to break in?

I'm a newbie to bikes and I just got myself a 2015 Iron on Saturday. I already have about 250 miles on her. No one told me I had to break her in until I was going over the manual. I think I have been pushing her hard since I ride mostly highway at 60-70 mph and the rpm has gotten up to 3800 going 70 mph. I think it was due to the headwind because it's always windy. I also rev the motor because of the sound and I have tried to haul *** on her but now that I saw that I need to break it in I'm afraid that I messed it up for the future. Did I? If I stop what I'm doing and take it easy for the rest of the 500 will I save the bike? Am I too late? Thanks for the help :/ last thing I want to do is mess it up

I doubt if you have done any harm. Modern vehicles are pretty robust and made to high standards. Now you've read the instructions follow them within reason. The dealer will never know and we'll keep quiet!

I say your fine. Keep a good quality oil in her. A lot of places will dyno tune a new bike with less miles on them. If anything you may have done a better job at heating up the rings and getting them to seat, which is what a break-in really is.

Most of the critical break-in has been done at the factory on their test stands (heat cycles and the like), unlike building a new engine. You still want to follow the manual for the rest of the break-in.

I would just start doing it by the manual from now until 500 when you're free to do whatever. If you haven't busted something up yet, you're probably ok.

I don't feel break in is the issue it was years ago and the break in technique is flexible and forgiving in most types of powered vehicles. I just bought a new car and my dealer picked it up at another dealership 150 miles away. I'm certain whoever picked up my new car and drove it the 150 miles drove it like any other car, broken in or not.

You should be fine. You might want to dump the fluids at 500 miles for a little peace of mind. Some might think it excessive or OCD, but for the price of 3 quarts of motor oil, a filter and gear oil, it can't hurt.

Oh yeah, buy the factory service manual.

I'm sure you're good. If it were me I'd follow the manual the rest of the way, that's just how I roll.
There's lots of guys that are of the opinion that you should ride it like you stole it from the get go, and they don't seem to report any problems doing that.
