rack
Yes it is still available. I just can't bear to throw out perfectly good items. I am sure it will do the job. Way better than a solo rack because it is flat. My paypal is pauljglassman@aol.com. I am guessing $20 to ship most places.

I thought I'd show off the abonimation I created for the OL's previous Sportster using one of those solo racks. Ebay trunk (functional lights), some diamond plate and bungee-nuts. It stayed water tight the entire time she used it and we went thousands of miles motorcycle camping.
Thanks for allowing my indulgence.

Dealing with the wires for lights is the sticky issue with quick disconnect. I tapped into the wires inside the tail laight of her '041200C, soldering wire extensions into the tail light socket/plug assembly inside the brake light housing and ran the wires through a grommet that fit perfect in the rear-most seat mount hole (after removing the captive nut for the seat mount bolt from under the fender). The problem with that is fishing wires every time you put it on and you can't use plugs to terminate the extensions because a plug won't pass through the fender mount hole. I wound up having two tail light sockets that plug into the brake housing. One had the extension wires for the trunk's lights and the other was stock for the times the rig was off the bike.
A pic of it in action. I know it's ugly, but she refused to cover her chrome with saddle bags and this was very functional. She carried the lap top and her stuff while I packed the camping gear on my bike.
