Default New bike with tuner already installed. Need help!

I just bought a 2014 Ultra Limited that came equipped with the Screamin-Eagle Extreme Billet Ventilator Air Cleaner, Vance & Hines "X" Pipe (header) and Vance & Hines mufflers.

There was also a Screamin' Eagle #32109-08C EFI Tuner in the tour pack. However, no cable, instructions or software were included.

The tuner is "orange" in color and is marked Super Tuner Pro.

I've used Power Commanders & Power Vision, but am not familiar with the Screamin' Eagle tuner, so I need some help:

Is the tuner "married" to my bike? The VIN was written on the box.

Does a cable and/or software need to be purchased to use this device?

Since no hardware or software are present, is it typical for an Owner to purchase only the tuner and have the ECM flashed with the dealers cable & software?

Is there any way of knowing the "state of tune" that I'm running or returning the bike to "stock" without taking it back to the Dealer?

Any help you can offer is appreciated!

The Screaming Eagle tuner doesn't come with connecting cables. It's designed to allow HD mechanics to tune the bike to the customer's preference. Unsure about the marriage to one bike only. You can purchase the cables separately and effect changes yourself- if you know what you're doing. Had one on my 2013 Road King, and only had the mechanics do the tuning. IMO it's not near the equivalent of Power Vision, FP3, etc. which are more user friendly.

Here's the link to download the software: http://prosupertuner.harley-davidson...uperTuner.aspx
The page linked also has a link for a tutorial on how to use it.
Here's the cable kit: http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...18-41000018--1

The standard download has some basic maps for SE intakes, exhaust, big bores, and cams. You can use those and see how they do, paying attention to any popping, misses, and you spark plug color or do some data runs to see where things need to b modified. Thing is a dyno person may have already tuned the bike to best performance and you would lose that tune if you write over it. You can get the filename of the current tune, but I don't believe you can pull all of the maps out of the bike for the current tune.

You can absolutely pull the current tune off of the super tuner once you have the software and cables. This super tuner pro has great reviews among tuners here and in the right hands, can get your bike running great.

There is a chance that it was already dyno tuned, so you may be taking a step back by trying different maps, but as stated, you can pull the tune currently on there and flash back. You'll likely know if it was dyno tuned by looking at the tuning file name when you pull it after you get the cables.

These tuners marry to the bike when used. It's useless for any other bike.

Also, this tuner is ***NOT*** just for mechanics as stated previously. It takes a bit of reading, but it does have a "smart tune" feature that you can run the bike and update the tune that is pretty simple once done a time or two.

Search around here and you'll find a lot of good info the SEPST. There's a smart tune guide, I believe by forum member "Foxster," that was very useful when I got that set up earlier this year.

I've smart tuned a few times and my bike runs better than the canned map I started with after my cam swap, but I ultimately plan to get a dyno session at some point.

Edit:

Here's a good place to start if you want to try out the smart tune feature.
