Thanks for the survey link Lauren. It was interesting.
Since we have only had our home in Cape Coral since March, my time riding in Florida has been limited to April through July. From August on I have been riding in central Illinois again.
My point is I can't help but make a comparison between riding observations in Illinois and Florida. My views/opinions are probably going to be a little different when taking the Florida survey.
In Illinois the roads are generally in bad shape with tons of pot holes and rough pavement. Cage driver's don't pay attention much to motorcycles and will tailgate you constantly.
What I noticed in Florida was that the roads were 99% smooth and great surfaces for riding. Folks seem to notice my HD more in Florida and don't tailgate me as much. But it seems that more bikes and cars run way over the speed limit in Florida than Illinois.
I wear a helmet 95% of the time but I am 100% against any law that would require me to always wear one. I choose to wear a helmet for the same reason I always wear a seat belt, I don't like hospitals.

Thanks for the link, survey taken. I wear a helmet 100% of the time and support their use, but also support the right to choose to wear one or not.
Something needs to be done about the violation of right of way (turning in front of bikes) as well as impaired riders. Nearly all bike crashes I see are caused by one or both of those.
