Default I've Turned Into A Wussy!

Guess I've turned into a wussie! I've only been living down here for less than 2 years, but my blood must have thinned to the point that I just have no wishes to take a ride in these temps. And the winds! Yesterday I took a ride to tank up the Road King. The ride east bound ride down Okeechobee Blvd. to the gas station was uneventful. West bound, the way back home, not so much! I have never encountered winds so bad in ALL my riding! 80 MPH on the Turnpike is nothing compared to my ride back home yesterday! I had to lay on the gas A LOT just to keep my speed up!

Oh how I long for the winter we had down here last year! Maybe there is something to this climate change stuff?

I got out for a few hours today, it was 38 when I left and it's only 50 now. Wasn't too bad. Yesterday was no fun in 45mph gusts. I took it slow on Military from WPB and nearly got blown over at every traffic signal.

You guys won't get any sympathy from Wisconsin. It is all a matter if acclimation. After -17°F last week, 25°F feels balmy this week.

You're right Ron, but when it drops from 75 to 40 overnight we whine and complain.

However, it's back to the 70s on Tuesday, and only one more cold night for the moment.

Got out for about 150 miles yesterday. Not cold but the wind was brutal. Riding east/ west was fine, south/north was all about hanging on to the bars...

Sounds like riding in Wyoming. I'm happy in winter when we can ride with 25 mph winds. We learn to ride in a constant lean. Kinda like our trees grow. Can't wait to winter in Florida.

I think it has to do with age/priorities? I can remember riding to work one morning 45 years ago when it was 19 degrees. I just pulled on my knitted ski mask, 3/4 helmet, and didn't give any thought to how cold it was. And in those days I thought windshields were for old man so I wouldn't use one.

Nowadays I don't ride if it below 50. In fact, I much prefer the temperature to be over 100 then below 60.

I think a lot people feel the same way as the OP. Went for a ride Sunday with a buddy. We ended up at The Oasis in Sorrento. Usually on a Sunday afternoon you will find several scooters there. We pulled in around 3 or so and were the only 2 motorcycles in the parking lot.
