No, it was a city street with a building on the corner that blocked my view of traffic approaching the intersection. I was able to see the traffic that had stopped, but wasn't able to see the vehicle approaching the intersection in the lane closest to me.
I had less than two seconds from the time I saw the Chevy. Time stretched and I instinctively put the bike between me and the Chevy.
Unless you're going to try to tell me you come to a complete stop at every intersection regardless of signals and conditions, she would have hit you, too.
As for weighing options, while I was laying the bike down I clearly remember thinking about who I'd need to call to let know I'd be late to the restaurant for dinner and wondering if an adjuster would total the bike (he did).
