How's your mileage? .. just got 45.8 MPG

The problem with trying to estimate you mileage is that that is exactly what your doing, estimating. With only a 5-6 gallon tank and the variable of just how full you got it each time you could be off by 1/4-1/2 gallon each time.
Point being if you fill it till the pump stops, that could be different for each pump. Also I have found by bumping mine around I can get more gas in after the first "full" indication.
Dodgey at best! But can can give you rough estimate of mileage in case something ch ages dramatically indicating you have a problem.
At 225 miles per tank a 1/2 gallon variance is 5 MPG

Most stock bikes with nothing done well get the best mileage. (Speaking about 2009+ touring models)
However, with no mods what so ever, they bike is running very lean!
When I first got my ride in May 2009, I was getting 265 mile a tank. But I was riding it like I as driving Miss Daisy around.
Now that I have done some engine upgrades, I average about 230 miles.
But it sure is more fun the way she rides now!

MPG can vary a lot ,weather, and riding style probably biggest. My 09fxstc was consistent 45-50. Highway. My 14SGS with stage one 41-45. I am careful to fill my tank to same level every time,on my glide there is a flap just about two inches down from the cap ,that's my fill mark. A friend with a14SG slip ons only, has gotten 52 highway during a ride we took to Columbus and back,60-65MPH.

OK, I filled my tank last week. Rode the bike to work on Monday. On the way home, was not paying attention until I looked down and saw the low fuel indicator illuminated. Odometer showed 225 miles (I always reset when gassing up). Took the next exit off the highway and headed straight to a gas station. After proceeding through a traffic light the bike started sputtering and I coasted into the gas station. There was 229 miles on the odometer now. 229 divided by 5 gallons = 45.8 MPG.
Engine is bone stock 2005 88 with 106K miles. Still runs great. Usually I always gas up around 200 miles. Not bad.

I commute during the week and ride for fun on the weekends. Nothing boring about this bike .. I've always kept up and the thing has great pick-up. Everybody got to have that 5 extra HP even if it means losing reliability.
I don't race or ride crazy .. been there and got reckless tickets. Never want to go through that again.
