Best cover for open trailer transport
I'm getting ready to move to Texas from North Carolina the beginning of December. I'm renting a u-haul trailer for the RK but would like to get a good trailerable cover to help protect the bike on the trip. Any suggestions off of experiences with covers will be appreciated....I know there is a wealth of knowledge on here.

I personally don't care about covering my bikes on my open trailer...BUT...if I did, I would get this.
Not cheap but it does what it is supposed to do. I have seen them on the road.

unless you have $$$ for a new paint job, ANY cover is going to damage the bike.
All you can do is enclose the sides and build a deflector along the front to keep any road spray from the tow vehicle and trailer tires from hitting the bike,
Most trailer fenders are open on the inside... a piece of plywood ripped and fastened to the trailer sides will give you some protection and anything you can build do shield the nose and deflect air will help too

Ditto on no cover while trailering. You'll get paint and chrome damage.
I told a buddy not to do it, he thought I was wrong, now he needs paint work.
I don't really see the difference between trailering and riding as far as the bike getting dirty. Maybe just fab some type of barrier on the front of the trailer but I don't think it will make that much of a difference. I've never had dirt/damage to my bike from trailering. Same with a buddy who borrows my trailer.

My 03 has at least 5000 miles on the trailer, never an issue
I did have my trailer on the back of the truck this summer and went down a unpaved wet road.... and for the first time I saw how much spray hit the trailer... before my next trip to Florida I am going to enclose the side rails and that will solve any potential exposure to road debris
