Default Wear bar on American Elite?

Just wondering if anybody has noticed this.
Rear tire is getting close to wear bars so I’ve been watching wear and condition a little closer than normal. During my winter detail work I was doing a close inspection of the tire and noticed that I have cords showing. WOW, not even to the wear bars yet. I hope this is just an isolated problem. Anybody else seen this?
By the way, I got 12670 miles on The American Elite. I got 15000 miles out of the radial I tried before and 9700 miles out of the OEM.
I haven’t decided if I’m going back to the radial or maybe try a Michelin this time.

Picture?

I don't rely on wear indicators. I've got a tread depth gauge.. I keep a close eye on my tires all the time.

Well ever since this one, a lot of years ago. I just got back from a 3200 mile trip, and before I looked at it, my buddy told me to use a quarter. I sent him these pics...

Exclamation

Suggests the central wear bars had disappeared before you noticed they'd gone! SafetyMan has the right idea - catch things in good time!!!!

OMG, I didn't know there are wear bars in the center. Probably blew right through them and didn't notice. I will for sure be watching closer from now on.

the original on my 09 Ultra CVO went just over 17,000. Put a new American Elite on but won't know how it does since I sold the bike

on my EG Classic -- I got around 15000 out of the E3's on the rear and 45,000 out of the E3 on the front

It has been said that to be old and wise one must first be young and dumb.

I like to think I'm somewhere in between.....

Take a look at your new tyre when it's fitted!
