Default Melted pants on hot pipe

Came to close with the pants from my raingear on my new SGS and burned a hole in the right leg. How to I get the black plastic residue off the chrome? Any good advice?

I've heard oven cleaner works good...don't have experience with that though. But if it's not a big glob of build up, I've used Mothers chrome polish to remove it when I did the same thing. Takes a little bit and some elbow grease, but it will come out.

Oven cleaner for cold ovens works great.

When choosing rain gear ensure they have the heat resistant material on the lower part of the legs. Most good motorcycle rain suits do. I have a Nelson-Rigg suit which I like.

I did that many moons ago. Rather than buy new rain gear, I bought a cheap ironing board cover from Wally Mart, cut a section of it out and sewed it to the inside of the right pantleg, never had that happen again

It was not really a motorcycle raingear, per say. They were **** jogging pants that I use as chaps. Slip them over my Blue Jeans for wind protection.

Use a penny to scrape off the gunk. The copper is soft enough not to scrape the chrome.....

next time the pipes are hot, just wipe it off with a wet 100% cotton towel.
