2007 HD street glide voltage issue
I need some help with my voltage issue.
yesterday, while riding, I noticed my voltage around 16 volts , the voltage started downward to around 12. The battery light came on. I stopped and checked all connection. With no improvement in the volts, I headed home but fail to make it as the volts finally made the 0 position. after a $350 tow I made it home.
I charged the battery over night and cranked the bike this morning. The voltage is charging with the engine running. I had an aftermarket chrome voltage regulator cover over the regulator. I have since removed the cover, thinking not enough air flow. What other areas should I check for this fix?? Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF.
Do some simple tests of your charging circuit. Go to the Tech Electrical section, where you will find a couple of Stickies that will help you identify if anything is faulty. You will need a multimeter. I doubt if the chrome cover has anything to do with the problem.

do like the guy above said, check the regulator and alternator...if you find nothing wrong, get the bike good and hot and check again..sometimes the regulator will only act up when it is hot...also check the wires to the regulator and check that the regulator is tight to the frame piece (grounded) ..the chrome cover in itself won't do any harm, but it does block air flow some and on a 'iffy' regulator It might bring out an issue...
