Yes, exactly the same. Torque applied at the wrench end is identical at the nut.

can I get a straight torque wrench with a 36 socket on the axel of an SGS (factory lowered)? Without taking the muffler off?

I've never had a problem with snail type adjusters moving once there was a bit of tension on them. If I did I'd just add a wrench to the welded side to hold it in place.

Also, I've never used a torque wrench on a rear axle either. I simply snug it up tight enough than I'm confident it won't back off - and they never have.

OP: don't over-think this. You're just tightening the rear axle, not torquing down some heads or rod bolts. If the adjuster slips a tiny bit your belt isn't going to snap in half because you didn't use the correct tool.

My main concern is over tightening and causing bearing problems. I like the fact of not having to take off my muffler to properly tourque it.

I have this one & it works perfectly. It accepts a 3/8" torque wrench.

Over tightening usually isn't an issue as long as you aren't using a cheater to tighten things up.
The spacers do not load the bearings - they only clamp all the spacers and inner bearing races together.
