Default wind deflection, road glide vs batwing

i was wondering about wind deflection on the road glide. i have a SG and i always get the wind from under neath. its pretty annoying with a beard. i tried putting some lowers on and it helped but still blows the beard up. so how is it with the road glides? is it more of a straight on wind or the same from under neath?

They make 4 or 5 deflectors for both models.......

No madder what you hang on it or what wings or fancy named windshield you put on it . You can never compare a Batwing to a RG with a proper windshield.

I may not be the best to comment on this. On my RG I don't notice much from underneath the fairing. I feel like I have a pretty good "pocket" of air that I'm sitting in. I have not put a whole lot of time on a SG to tell how much different it is though. Just my two cents.

Smitty, seems like some are forever searching. My buddy has half a dozen different shields hanging in his garage for his shark. He's still searching. I swapped an 8" Ultra LRS on to my bat and have run it 102,000 miles. Most of his shields are in the $200 range, rather than the $60 I spent. I believe if the OP puts the adjustable wings on his SG that come on the Ultra it will help a ton. I notice the 15 sharks come with those now too. FWIW

On my Limited I find most of the wind is coming from behind. I have fangs, vents on the lowers, etc... nothing changes anything much. My hair & beard blow forward. Even had a bee one time fly over my right shoulder & smack into the inside of the windshield at 45 mph.

You make a big vacuum pocket in the air as you ride.

The adjustable wings will help ,but won't keep the beard down. I used to braid my beard or tuck it under the helmet strap. I don't have the beard problem anymore work required me to shave.

There are another set of deflectors I have not seen mentioned yet for the Road Glide, They snap onto the engine guard on either side of the frame and do help even a bit more along with the fairing wings which HD finally started putting on their Bikes. Prior to 14 your only option for wings were Sanchoz. When I still had my Glide I had a Clearview shield on it and had zero issues with buffeting. It was dark tint that I could easily see over. If I was not in such a hurry to get rid of the gawdy over my head shield that came on the bike I would have opted for an LRS with the cheaper price. Have ridden all the Harley's, at least touring bikes and will again own another Road Glide. But I would also own a batwing in a heartbeat. Ride and decide and or shave your beard.
