I always have a hard time getting the cable threads to line up with the cover. I've had good results laying the cable on the floor and holding the cover in one hand and the cable in the other and just keep trying to get it started. You'll get it. Just takes time.

I agree with all before on the cable. That thing is an odd angle and a bitch to get started. Have beer handy!

Me too. I held the clutch cable with one hand and spun the housing around. Worked for me. You don't have the cable flopping around to (not) help you.

This is how I always have done it. Never had an issue.

This is how I've done it too. It's a pain in the ***, but as you can see, you aren't the only one that has dealt with this. The aluminum risers though? I would think that would transfer vibrations big time. I went with HD poly bushings and my 16" Carlini's never moved at all.

Well the good news is I got it threaded today. Someone at Harley had to be laughing their *** off when they designed that offset. What a pain. I went ahead and installed the solid bushings. Now for the embarrassing part. I went to mock the bars up and realized something wasn't right. Turns out I ordered bars for a Road King not a Street Glide.
This totally sucks.
Since I have to order new bars again I am wondering if I should have went with the Yaffe 14" instead of the 12's. I have the HD mini's and wanted more height. The 12's in Road King are the same height as the 12's in the HD version.

Sorry to hear you got the wrong bars. Hey stuff happens. One thing about apes are you are always thinking I should have went higher. If you have to order new bars go with the 14s. Good luck.

D W K I'm pretty positive your not the first to make that mistake and you won't be the last. Go with the 14's, you'll be glad you did.

Something to keep in mind, the PYs are taller than described. The 12''s are more like 13-14'''s. I have the 12''s on my SG and they put my hands clear over the fairing. I find the PY 12''s to be very comfortable and a happy median between OEM and ridiculous.

Good Luck with your project!
