Mini Apes installed-clutch cable problem
I finally got my Wild One Chubby's 10.5" mini apes installed the other day. Love them! Took the bike for a couple of rides and on the second ride the clutch cable broke! It seems when you put the bars in the full lock position the cable is too tight. I didn't notice it until I was backing into a park spot and I heard a "pop".
I was under the impression from the posts on here and the manufacturer's e-mail that all you have to do is lengthen the wires.
Anybody else experience this? If so what length cable did you install?

When I installed my 12" monkey bars this winter, I went 6 over on the clutch cable. That seemed perfect, no binding at full lock either direction. With 10.5" bars, I'd think you'd want to go 4 over on the clutch cable, but that's a guess.

Did you do any reroute? The people who didn't seem to re route around the radio or other ways to not have it so tight. But it happened now.. might as well throw a longer one on and not worry about it again. I have been eyeing up every post about this and will try a reroute on the stock bars to see how much slack I gain for the future swap, and if I'm not comfortable with the results I will put on longer.
Just dealt with this issue this week. Put on a set of Wild One Chubby WO576's (14") bars. The clutch cable was just a +4". No where near what was needed. Ordered a new cable that is +10' so that there will be some slack and no worries of binding. If you need a Magnum +4" Sterling Chromite II Clutch cable let me know. Brand new never run. Was just too short. Let it go cheaper than a new one. PM if so.
There you go man, that +4 is what you need. I put PYO 10's on my bike and did what I could with the stock cable but still wasnt enuff. I ended up pulling the cable housing out of the crimp down by the adjuster. Got a +4 now and its perfect
He is on a Roadking. It is NOT the same length as the fairing bikes. I have replaced both sets. The fairing bikes require a cable change and no wire extensions. Road kings need wire extensions but, clutch cable should of been fine. You just needed to remove the clamp that hooks it to the nacelle. I would get a plus 2 or 4 now though...

I have Chubby 577s the 12 inch and used a 6" over clutch cable. Works great. I found out long ago not to cut corners. Some folks do it and get by, when it comes to the bike I don't cut corners.
