I bought a Hayden when they first came out. I then started reading of the issues with the newer 103s and put it on the shelf.

I then heard of the newer springs....

When I wrote Hayden and told them I had the old springs and heard they came out with the new springs, the promptly sent me a set of the new ones.....

New springs on right.......older springs on left

Newer springs are certainly shorter.

I haven't installed mine yet, not sure if I will.... I'm having no problems with the OEM tensioner at the moment...

This morning a buddy of mine stopped over with his springs and they are shorter than mine. WTF. I dunno. I sent Hayden a picture and I'm hoping they will send me a response and discuss the difference in length of his springs vs. mine.

If indeed, I received a box which had been laying around and included longer springs which have since been "changed out" for shorter ones... I hope that Hayden will send me the revised (shorter) springs to return my customer experience back in the favorable side.

Your box contained 4 springs?

No. I bought it with the longer springs and before I got it installed, I called them and they sent the shorter springs.

I have yet to hear back from Hayden but I hope I will soon.

No other way I could have gotten longer springs than for my box to have the older springs on it and it was just sitting on a shelf.

I dunno - once I get the new springs... If they ship me a set, sounds like I do need to forgoe using the inner spring.

I never had a problem with haydens on earlier bikes (really liked them) but with the new style primary they run waaayyy tight. I'm running a welded stock tensioner.

Way too tight on my '12 CVO. Had it in for about a week and took it out. The chain had worn 1/4" grooves in the shoe.

Ran mine 3 months, thought it would loosen up. Still tight, removed it and put in a Baker. Problem solved.

Had the same destruction after several thousand mi. Called Hayden three or four times for advice. they stated "don't worry it will wear in". I will stick with the stock piece from now on. Mine was very tight and I called with my concerns. Anyway your bike your choice.
