Default SE 110 vs CVO motor

Has anyone compared a SE 110 kit to a CVO? I'm thinking I want more power but I compared my stage 3 103 with a CVO dyno and my 103 was stronger?

you can look at "official H-D" HP and Tq curves in the screaming eagle catalog.

a "stock street" bike such as the CVO is going to have a cat and noise compliant intake and exhaust.

I bet your stage 3 doesn;t.

just this is good for about 10 HP, cams and heads good for about another 15 HP maybe even an few more

I'm not a big fan of the Harley dyno charts, they seem pretty inaccurate.

The CVO I compared it to had a full exhaust and super tuner.

You cannot make a sensible comparison, it seems to me, simply because your bike is modified away from stock and the CVO you mention was modified in a different way! I suspect the only valid comparison is of two bone stock bikes, as it is possible to modify them both in so many different ways.

Head on over to fuelmoto and check out their dyno sheet section.
They have tons and tons of base runs with and without mods to reference.

You'll probably see a bunch of 107 builds that out gun the 110...

H-D uses them to sell their own performance parts- and this is the only place ( AFAIK) that H-D publishes HP numbers for stock and modified bikes-

they will show the 2 HP loss of the B motor, and the 3 HP advantage of the touring over the dyna ( same A motor, larger volume exhaust)

I know alot of riders are bothered when they look up their bike and see HP numbers in the 60's or 70's...
but that's what you get with an air cooled V twin....the early 88" was 58 hp, the 80" Evo 55 hp...with the CA version at 45 HP

Have a buddy that is a Harley mechanic and we were talking about this last weekend.

The cvo110 has a valve train issue that causes it to use oil, but not enough to warrant a recall. He also said his '16 103, I think he said it was a high output, had just as much get-up-and-go, but the se110 was a pretty good motor and would walk away from his.

The original CVO110's had a rear head gasket seal problem that was corrected. They never had a valve train problem and are the same components as all the TC's. I have had three CVO 110's and all out performed the other TC's. The 12 Road Glide CVO was the strongest 110 H-D produced at 122 ft.lbs. of torque at the crank. Others were from 103, 115 and 118 at the crank. Current CVO touring 110 wet head are at 115.

By the way H-D crank torque specs are to a SAE standard and certified. If they were not buyers could have a class action law suit case. Just like the engines in garden tractors and lawn mowers several years back when a class action law suit was won regarding the HP listed on the mower. Many mowers now just list cc's and not HP.

In this country you just don't throw out numbers to create sales without some law firm coming after your for $$$$$.

The cvo 110 comes with 255 cams and screaming eagle mva heads. The larger combustion chamber lowers compression.

The 103/110 comes with ported heads and 259 cams and 10.2/1 compression. My local dealer is getting around 115hp/120tq from these which is far more than any cvo 110 I've seen.
