RG: "Needles to the face" rain protection?
#22
BikerJack asks:
"How is the Road Glide at protecting you from the "needles to the face" sting in the rain at higher speeds with a stock windshield?"
If you want -real- protection against the wind and rain, put a -real- windshield on the bike.
Take a look at pics of the old Tour Glide (the forerunner of the Road Glide).
That's a "real" windshield!

Bottom line, (or top line, depending on your point of view), if the windshield doesn't reach at least to the top of your helmet, forget it. And the farther back from the windshield that you sit, the higher it has to go.
And, bottom line #2, it's a freakin' windshield, not a rain shield.
Jeez.

i use something similar to this if i'm riding with my shortie and get caught in the rain. helps a lot.. i got one at a military clothing sales store. you can wear it in a variety of configurations. in this offering by amazon, you get a twofer....one for cold and one for warmer weather. might be worth a try for 10 bucks. but i agree, a face shield is way better. probably don't want to hear it but buy another half helmet with a detachable face shield and keep it in the bag. here is the link for amazon.

this is the one i got in clothing sales....http://www.specopsbrand.com/apparel/recon-wrap.html its more expensive but it works pretty good. i don't remember paying that much but it works for the rain and chilly weather too....

I like to ride year-round and wear my modular during the colder months or take on the long trips. I also like to wear my half at times in the colder months and use with a neoprene mask. The mask is always in my saddle bags, and has helped when I get caught in the rain with just a half helmet.
