Road Glide Ultra - Timely Purchase Advice
I decided to jump into the Shark Tank. Plan to purchase a new Road Glide Ultra.
Test drove it yesterday. Salesman asked me what it would take for me to buy the bike. I told him that I first had to decide whether that was the bike I wanted. Riding home on my 2006 Wide Glide (95BB, 37H cams, slip ons) I made my decision.
I love the WG, but going from that to the RGU is like going from a hopped up '69 Chevelle to a Cadillac. Both nice, but different. At 50+ I want the Cadillac. I plan to do much more touring.
Now onto the question. At this time, days before the '17 Models show up, what would be a good price for a RGU. There are many threads about RGU prices, but I did not see any after the motor/engine change were known.
Based on the threads that I've read, MSRP, minus $2,000, plus document fee ($299 in Maryland). No freight, assembly, etc.
Is this reasonable? Would this be too much, given that it would already have 1 year of depreciation before leaving the show room?
Thanks
Emil

2017 bikes will start being delivered this Tuesday Aug. 23rd. With all of the changes it will kill the value of the 2016 and older bikes. Just like when the 2014 bikes hit it really hurt the value of the 2013 and older. It happens whenever there is a big model change in cars or bikes. Dealers have to move the 16s quick so the ball is in your court. I've seen discounts as much as $4,000 on cvos and some dealers offer sticker price with a free 117ci upgrade on CVOs and 110 upgrade on non-cvo bikes. That includes parts and labor. I would offer them a crazy low price and make them say no as a starting point.

they might be willing to budge a little more after the 17s hit the floor. i've thought about getting one but every time i do, i think....wait for the new models or, my bike is still running great, why go through the model upgrade.

So, I was pretty close on the $2k under MSRP, but should even lower the price some with the new bikes coming out. Integrating the last two replies, maybe try for $3k below MSRP, which is somewhere between the $2k on the SG before the new bikes were known about and the $4k on the CVO.
Thanks to all

Wait a week or two. That 2016 will probably be there then and the dealer will need to move it.
I have two buddies that bought 2013's in mid summer of 2013. Six weeks later they were sick when the rushmores came out.
Nothing wrong with a 2016 RGU. But use the new 2017 release to your favor.

Not that it is totally comparative. I bought my 14 limited for 3500 under msrp in august of 14. This was right before the 15's were released , this time of year. There was no change in bikes for 15. I figured the 3500 off covered the 1st year depreciation. This model year appears to have some big changes, I'd want at least that
