Default LA Choppers Twin Peak 10" bars on Street Glide

My friend installed 10" Twin Peaks bars on his 07 Street Glide. To me they look like 12" bars, sitting well above the fairing. If the stock bars are 7.5", then how do they figure their numbers? I want to be at the top of the fairing not over it. They look great and are comfortable but whats the point of a bat wing fairing if your hands aren't covered?

Many will disagree, but I totally agree about hands over fairing, makes no sense.

Are you sure they are 10's? My buddy just installed 10 twin peaks on his 14 street glide, I went over to look at it yesterday because I am also considering these. His sit just under the fairing with only your knuckles exposed. No good for me, as I want my hands behind the fairing so I am going with the 8" twin peaks.. One other thing I didn't like is his stock mirrors are now useless.

I have 10" LA Choppers on my 2009 Street Glide, this picture should give an idea of height.

I went 8"TP as well. I wanted the look and positioning but not the height. I was hoping to get my wrists up and out a slight bit.....turned out perfect.

With a taller bar like that, where you position them will make a pretty big difference. I have Khrome Werks 10" bars (bagger bobber apes series) on mine and they're pushed all the way forward. My knuckles are just above the fairing.

I'd have preferred to keep my hands behind the fairing completely, but I found it more desirable to have the bars forward. As it is, I only get wind across my knuckles and it's not bad at all.

As a side benefit, I can now hear the radio much more clearly since the hand controls are not directly in the way.

These are 10 inch Twin Peaks on my '15 SG. They sit at the top edge of the fairing so that the fairing mirrors are useless. Because of the shape of the fairing the wind is kind of re routed so I really don't get much air on my knuckles. I did have to install handlebar mirrors. I also have the 6.5 inch Memphis Shades Spoiler windshield which curves out and helps push the wind away from my hands.

Another view of 10" TP with Arlen Ness Minis. Removed the stock mirrors, added plugs. Knuckles just above the fairing.
