I've had a BAL on past bikes and they worked great. I switched to CD on my 15 RG because BAL didn't have anything to fit the existing small tail lights at that time. Btw, the CD brake unit has more flash patterns to choose from than the BAL I owned. I don't think you can go wrong with either company.

I ran the 4 LED version on my '04 Road King, when I traded that in for my '14 I kept the BAL, sold it here and bought the 12LED version. I figure for the extra couple hundred bucks its cheap insurance. Most of my riding is during the day and the 12 LED is more visible from an angle. I thought about making the rear turn signals run, brake, turn but decided I wanted to keep the amber rear turn signals so as to not possibly confuse motorists with the BAL flash and a red turn signal. I figured this was the best plan to MAX out the tail light. Both are great, I highly recommend them and would pay the extra bucks for the 12 LED again.

I also went with the BAL-2 12 led version, for the greater side angle. I commute frequently in rush hour traffic... i set the tail-lamp (no-brake) to a dimmer setting so there is more difference when I apply the brake.
I also put the CD LED fender tip lamps in - also added a filter sheet to lessen the brightness of the rear so people didn't think it was a brake-light on. They're pretty bright...

How easy is it to program? Is that done somehow by a magnet?
Thanks
