Thinking of putting some Polk Audio Speakers on the 07 Ultra. They are Marine Grade, fully waterproof but 4 Ohm. I know the current speakers that come on the Ultra are 2 Ohm. J & M and Hog Tunes seem to be 2 Ohm as well.

Does anyone know if going to 4 Ohm all around will cause an issue?

using 4 ohm speakers for the 2006-2008 HK audio system will not cause a problem at all, in fact the amplifiers will actually run a little bit cooler than with the 2 ohm speakers ,,,,,,

however, the amount of power the speaker will receive from the amps will be reduced because of the higher impedance rating, and this will cause a corosponding reduction in volume at the same setting on the radio, compared to a 2 ohm speaker of the same quality and design ,,,,,, however slight this reduction might be ,,,,,,

certainly I am biased, but I think you will find the J&M speakers designed specifically for this application on your Harley will be just as water-resistant as the Polk marine speakersyou are conisdering and in addition, will give you the best sound available from the HK audio system on your Harley ,,,,,

you could always add a choke the 4 ohms and get them to the 2 ohm impedence.

 

Not to be jumping in on your ?? but I have a 2002 Electra-Glide Standard with no radio in it.
I was told that the speakers are in it and all I have to do is
put a stereo in it. What are most people recommending?

 

Do a search for Sony (they make one that will retro) to the hand controls.

 

I was told the samewhen Ipurchased my'06 standard. Removed the outer fairing... no speakers under there.
