Default For the unhappy 2007 owners out there!

My 07 Ultra was taken into my local Harley dealer
a little over two weeks ago because it picked up a
bad vibration in the engine. Bad enough it hurt me
to ride it. I knew it was the crank the way it started
to vibrate out of no where, one second it was good
the next it was shaking BADLY"

Understand this up front: My 2007 Ultra at the time it
went in the shop was about 9 1/2 months old with
("30,000 miles on it") so I ride it a bunch!

One Harley dealer had 3 techs ride it and all 3 said my
Ultra was running just like any other 07 they have rode.

So I took it to my local Harley shopwhere 5 techs rode it
and only one said there was something wrong with the
bike. He tried everything to solve this from the outside of
the engine and trany. He called Harley with every step he
did and they finally said that he should check the crank.
Bingo" The crank has a problem! He called Harley and
told them what he found..
(I won't say what it was because I don't want to start
anymore bad rumors about 07 Harley's)

So Harley called today and said there is a new engine
on the way for my Ultra. This all took to long IMO ..
But I'm hear to tell you after riding Metric bikes my
whole life I'm totally impressed with Harley Davidson
and the way they have taken care of my Ultra from day
one!

WHY??

My Ultra had a bubble in the clear on my fairing at
2,000 miles.

They replaced it ASAP

I had the CB antenna break off at 3,000 miles.

They replaced it ASAP

I had the FM antenna break off at 3,3000 miles.

They replaced it ASAP

My seat gave out at 12,000 miles.

They replaced it ASAP

Now at 30,000 miles I had a bad vibration and they are
replacing the engine. This is taking 3 weeks by the time
it is all said and done, but they are replacing it all the
same.

Harley Davidson has me as a repeat customer from now
on if this is how they continue to take care of me as one
of their customers.

Sure my Ultra rattles,clanks,whines,vibrates (normally)
and pings like a 100 year old design of a motorcycle is
suppose to (Thats why I love it) it is called Character"
Harley Davidson has something else going for it also
IMO and that is 100 year old ideas of how to take care
of their customers. 100 years ago a mans hand shake was
worth something when you bought a motorcycle or
anything else back then, it seems Harley Davidson still
lives by this. Some of their dealers maybe lacking in
this area but as big as Harley Davidson's dealer network
is I guess that is to be expected!

For you 07 owners that hate your motorcycles, I say you
need to find the right dealer with the right tech and
Harley Davidson will take care of any problem you may
[b][i]have. They can only help you if the&nbs

I'm missing something. 7 out of 8 HD techs give you the standard HD serviceanswer of "that's normal" and if not for that one tech, you'd still be stuck with the bad crank and still searching for a dealer with a clue. Glad they fixed the other stuff, but I'd be pretty pissed having to listen to this "that's normal" from a bunch of clueless "tech's" when I know there's a problem.

EVERY dealer is different for sure.

I have an '05 Ultra with a seven year warranty.

My dealer won't even replace the volume **** that has fallen off THREE times while riding. Cost me $24 so far.

They LAUGH each time I show up and tell them this should be covered.

amen brother, the dealer I go to has bent over backward for me on several occasions when they could've told me "that's not covered by warranty". I had a tach on an '02 sportster thar was replaced three times because of different things. They always told me to bring it right in if there was something wrong, and, most of the time didn't charge me a dime.
That dealer is Shenandoah Harley Davidson. They are in Staunton va. stop by and check 'em out if you're ever out that way.
As for my present scooter, I like my '07, maybe it's not as refined as itshould be, but, it's a harley. It's not just a motorcycle, it's part of me. None of the asian bikes have ever owned have given me the feeling like it was glad to see me like my harley does. My old triumph did though, god i miss it.

[sm=exactly.gif]what he said. I must be missing something too, because if I had as many problems as you have had(although you did put quite a few miles on it, although 30K isn't that much) I wouldn't be so quick with all the accolades to the MOCO or their dealer service people since all but one said it was normal, what a bunch of B.S.

I guess your both missing something, but you must be
missing alot more because you think 30,000 miles on
a Harley in 9 1/2 months (isn't that much) miles LOL"

Your missing the fact that I took the time to find the
right dealer as well as HD tech to bring it to Harley
Davidson's attention and Harley Davidson took care
of it!

Whats so hard to understand??

Now I don't understand" LOL"

Kudos to you for your persistence to get the problem fixed, but that's not what I'm missing. It's the part that you get smoke blown up your azz by 7 out of 8 techs and if not for your persistence, they wouldn't have done chit and you'd be still stuck with a bad crank. Sorry, but I wouldn't be tooting the dealers horn over this.I'd be pissed it took two dealers and 8 techs toacknowledge there's a problem. Not that this is surprising. But good for the moco to at least step up and do the right thing.

As if we don't already know about the pin slippage in the crank? They had no choice but fix it. 2 year unlimited mileage. As far as new engine, it's cheaper for them, as the crank is scrap anyway. People see things differently. I for one think this problem should not have existed in the first place.

from what I read he isn't tooting any dealer horn just the factory horn for taking care of what the dealer or dealers that he went to found bad and fixed immediately for him without arguing like most of the stories you here about the factory on this forum.
