Default 10,000 service

Well, I just took my bike in for it's 10,000 mile service. I couldn't be happier with my RK Custom. After 6 months and 10,000 miles I know I made the right choice. Just thought I would share a good response about our dear HD bikes. Harley rules

I know the 10,000 is the most they do in a service. Not excatly sure what, but I know they go through the entire bike. My bike actually feels tighter while riding it now.
The dealer checks everything from top to bottom and replaces anything that is worn out or is hazards’ to the bike. The dealer does have a list of what they do to it. Also it was $300 for the 10,000 serivce with synthetic oil.

Heck the 1K and the 5K cost $345.00 at my dealer here in Phoenix and the 10K is more and that doesn't include any synthetic oil. And then there is the list of they they are supposed to do and what is really done which is something you will never know and thatis why I will be doing my own 5K service.

I just paid around $500 for the 10,000 mile service on my 06 SG. My dealer has a list of everything they do, and after checking the bike over it really seems like they did everything. The bike feels even better now with everything lubed up - clutch pull is much smoother.

Do they just do the routine maintenance items that are listed in the owners and/or service manual or is there more to it than that?

I think I will be doing my own service from now on so I can know everything is done. I get the feeling that many of us are paying $300 for an oil change with little else done or inspected. Mostof it is pretty simple stuff, just takes some time to look and adjust things.

Thanks for the good word on the RK. Great looking bike.

Here is a link to Tampa Harley. It has a list of service for the 1000/5000 miles and 10,000 miles services. I don't know how accurate it really is, but here it is anyways.

I just paid $420 for the 10K service here in CT, and that's before the $60 for synthetic. And I have no idea if they actually did any of it!
