Default Has any one had this bracket break?

Outside of buying this new bracket every several thousand miles, what can be done? The bracket I am talking about is the main support bracket(s) to the inner “BATWING” fairing. I get these poorly designed brackets broken on customer’s bikes all the time. They do not even know they have a big problem awaiting them. I wonder if the brackets both broke @ 70 mph, what would happen? Do you think the wires and cables would hold the bat wing on long enough to stop or do you think it would dent your cranium?

PLEASE..................Does anyone have a solution to these broken brackets?

I think that it is a common problem. Some people weld them and that will make them stronger than they are originally. I would think that would be the only way unless you replace them and they could possibly break as well, unless you reinforce them.

Have had several with all four broken. Fairing stays there. weld them along with some reinforcements. Unless you like changing them every so often.

fairing wont go flying but it will shake alot....i welded mine along with some cheapo L-brackets(welded those into the bracket)...seemed to fix it just right....IMO the bracket is not up to par and needs more metal in the stress areas

Here's a bracket that me and another engineer at work (Military Aircraft)have come up with, it's made of 301 Stainless halfhard, it has great tinsel strengthand will not crack under severe loads.

We re-use the old bracket and attached the new doubler with solid revits.

I'm currently testing these brackets on my '06 SG, the original OEM brackets would break about every 2 or 3 thousand miles...so far so good on the new ones.
