Default New street glide. Vance and Hines or Supertrapp?

Will keep my question brief...and thank you to all who can provide info. Just bought a new Street Glide and am doing SERT and Stage I. Dealer is pushing Supertrapp pipes, I had Vance and Hines on my Road King and loved them. Will eventually do true dual, but have to wait a bit.$$$$$. Is the Supertrapp slip on just a fancy Screaming Eagle pipe? Vance and Hines the better way to go? I like a throaty sound in a pipe...thanks again.

Both are good pipes, but in my opinion the SuperTrapps are not as loud as the Vance and Hines. I believe either will give you good performance, but if you want the sound go with the Vance and Hines. I put the V & H slash-cut slip-ons on my 08 UC and love the sound. The Ovals also sound good, but not as loud as the slash-cuts. At my shop 3 different employees had 3 different sets of mufflers, Rineharts, SuperTrapps, and Vance & Hines....I liked the sound of the V&H best.

I'm currently running a set of 06 Screamn' Eagle (off road) Performance Touring Mufflers; they were made by Supertrapp for Harley Davidson until 2006 and supposidly the same as the Supertrapp S E Touring Mufflers. Take it from me, if they're the same, they sound like a set of jack hammers out on the open road. The best way to know what a set of pipes really sounds like is to hear them out on the open road, so take your time and look around before spending your hard earned money on something you won't like. Do a search on this fourm it's a wealth of knowledge and check out e-bay for a set of reasonably pricedpipes JMHO

Vance & Hines slip-ons sound good at highway speed, throaty on acceleration.

If you had the Vance and Hines and like them I would get the same kind. The only way to judge pipes is to hear them as everyone has their own taste IMO.
