Default Low profile shock

Looking to get a better footing, and looking to a low profile shock. Just want to know how does that change the ride if any?

I am also looking at Sundowner Deep Bucket seat. Any other seats that get me closer to the ground? I have read a lot about Mustang seats. I am 5'10" with a 30 inseam. Thanks.

I didn't use the shocks...but the lowering brackets. Does ok...not alot of difference. I have a sundowner seat which was pretty good...till I sent it to Mean City Cycles to have it "lowered" and refoamed with the memory foam. Now its the best ride I've ever had. I would try the seat first before changing the shocks.

Be careful with the sundowner seat- it is generally wider than stock and will splay your legs out effectivly shortening your legs- that said it is really comfortable. I have the lowering shocks and lowered the front end (both 1") and didn't notice a great deal of difference in ride. I have a 32" inseam and can easily flat foot with the above combination and could probably flat foot with just the seat. I agree with trying the seat first as you may not have to lower the bike itself.

I have an SG that came equipped with the HD low-profile shocks (12"), and I pulled them off rapidly in favor of some 12½" Progressive 440's. I wouldn't recommend the HD low-profile air shocks, as they ride rough and bottom frequently.

I installed a White Bros. (now Burly) 1" lowering kit on my '96 RK and found it to be very satisfactory, but I can't say how these work on newer bikes. I would look into this first, then consider an aftermarket brand of shock like Progressive or Works if that doesn't work out. Their 12" shocks will ride better than the HD, but remember that a 12" shock only provides about 2" suspension travel, which isn't much. My 12½" 440's are IMO minimal in the travel dept., as even with the additional ½" I still get some bottoming occasionally.

If you can hold out a bit, you can have the ones that come on my SG for your 13" ones

I bought the H-D profile lowering shocks, and I ride 2 up and had it loaded for 4,000 miles and no problems. No bottoming either.

Before spending all that money on new shocks, try changing the shock oil to a heavier wt. oil. There's some good articles on this forum on how do change it.

I went with Progressive 412 series at 11.5" and shaved my seat down a bit. I'm 5'4" with a 30" inseam. I should've ordered the heavy duty version because I hit the stops when I hit a good bump at highway speeds.

I'm saving for a true air ride suspension.
