sporty buy backs are to reduce the stock of air cooled motors off the showroom floor, the sporty will remain air cooled. but the larger motors will all be water cooled. due to heat complaints and people getting burnt without making direct contact with the motor. dealer told me today 2010 will be water cooled. don't shoot the messenger, just relaying what i was told.

Dealer is correct.

HD has hit the wall with air-cooled tech. The wall they hit was placed there by EPA. Their own testing reveals the newer engines tuned to run leaner to satisfy EPA are at the threshold of self destruction and also causing customer complaints/injury. You need to also remember this is ths same country where someone sued MacDonalds for millions over spilled hot coffee.

HD can neglet to cure wobbly touring models for years, but they can't forever deny injury claims from leg burns and in a few cases, clothes catching fire while riding.....In the wobble cases that resulted in crash and sometimes death, they simply claimed operator error where it was impossible to tell what actually led to the accident.

Yes, HD will quickly be forced to produce mostly water-cooled bikes.....However, they aren't exactly in a great position financially to do so, are they?

I mean think about it bail out or even just bad times do you really think that Harley FING Davidson is gonna change from a air cooled bike? Isnt that why most or all of us love and remember Harley Davidson when our fathers and grandfathers owned one. Sorry just thinking out loud a little too much.
