I give everything a good look at the house, make sure nothing is falling off etc...Before I start on any trip. That way the stock tools that came with your Ultra should take care of any small things on the road. I say this with only 27K miles on mine as it gets older I may carry more tools

I was getting ready to start a thread on tool kits because I think I have made a fairly good one...then this thread popped up. Here's the story on mine.
I got drug out during X-mas time to Goodies by the wife and ended up wandering off. I found a tough little Fossil shaving gear bag and the wheels started turning. Bought it for less than $10 and here's what I ended up being able to stuff in it....
The cool thing is I have everything I need in one easy to grab bag...no hunting in different places.

I carry the tool kit that came with the my Ultra. I added a pair of needle nose pliers and electrician's pliers. When I detail my bike, I always check out the whole bike. I rode the bike from Mexico to Alaska and back, and the only thing I needed was a bottle of slime and the air compressor.
