Default 2006 FLHX Lights fuse blowing

My 06 FLHX is blowing the "Lights" Fuse every time I turn the ign switch on. My brake light, blinkers still work, but the trim light and running light will not work. I have unplugged the socket going to the taillight assembly, and as soon as I turn the switch it blows the 15amp fuse.

Would love a idea or two.

Default Short

Sounds like a dead short someplace near the light(s) affected. You might look for a chaffed or crimped wire someplace where the wires go through the fender or wherever they make a sharp bend or are tied or restrained by a clip.

That's as far as my expertise goes on this one. Had a similar situation with my passing lamps on an '06 Steet Glide, and it turned out a wire had chaffed and shorted on the bracket.

Good luck.

You mite look under the fairing for a chafed wire. I had similar problem with the cruise control wires that connect to the throtle cabel where it goes under the gas tank. It would cause the brake light fuse to blow. I don't have c c so I just disconnected them.

It's definatelly a short. If you did something to the bike recently, try to backtrace.

Thanks guys.

No I didn't add anything new. I completely unplugged the taillight harness, I am guessing the accent light on the tip of the finder is the one running next to the radio antenna. Does that run on the same circuit? It does not light up either. I will try unplugging it also, but I have blown my last 15amp fuse. Have to wait till the morning.

Keep the hints coming.
Thx
