Price on 103 kit with cams
There is a local custom builder that said he will do the 255 cams, bore out my cylinders 103, SE pistons, etc. Then put my bike on the dyno and fine tune it for $1,400
I questioned him on CR's and the SE compensator and he said I will not have any starting issues. He also said that this is a very mild build and that I will feel a differance in the butt dyno but dont expect it to throw up huge dyno numbers. He told me this because he didnt want me to expect too much and be disappointed. He said he will put it on the dyno before any work is done to get base pulls and then put it back on after all the work and fine tune it. This is a very repubutle shop
I called another local shop and they want $1400 for the SE 103 kit AND another $800 for cams. They said I will need CR's
Im confused on the CR's. I do not want starting issues. Do the 110 CVO's have CR's? How do they handle the cams etc?

$1400 with the dyno tune seems like a good deal.

Back in 07 when I did my 103 stg II with 255 cams I was discouraged by the dealer from the installation of the CR's. Now the dealer has made a 180 on them and recommends them. Mine really could have used them. But now I think I'll install the SE compensator.
So at the very least do the SE compensator with your build.

From what I have read, no. I am, however, looking to get real close to 100lb torque. FuelMoto is getting 95lbs with my similar set up and their new headpipe. So Im hoping with the cams, and the new headpipe, it will put me right there.

Same as you!
brihvac, Wow. Your build is almost exactly what I am going to do. Bore the stock cyclinders, SE 255 cams and SE pistons. Price is very close except I didn't get the dyno included. The tech said he will do a pull prior and one after to document the gains. He also gave me conservative gains for the same reason (under promise/over deliver). He's probably being pretty practical also since this is a mild mod.
After reading so much on this forum, I have decided to get the CRs. I'm going to do the manual releases. Many say the wind up not needing them, but others say they were necessary. I'm probably going to have them set up the compression close to 10:1, so I'd rather be safe than sorry. I live in MN, but tour out west and east coast, so I could be in some hot areas on the interstate with some hot starts.
I'm also going to ask about lifters. Some build shops sugest they be changed when you do the upgrade and my 07 Ultra has almost 34K on it now.
Good luck to both of us!
