I was out riding today and my cruise control stopped working. I was on my way home after about 100 mile ride. It worked fine all day. The light on the dash for the cruise is on and I have the red cruise light. It will not engage and the light will not change from red to green.

I did notice that my 6th gear light stopped working at the same time.

All other controls are working fine.

Any ideas?

I have had that happen once where the lights worked and cruise didn't, mine turned out to be the front brakeswitch (I broke it when I took the grip apart). So make sure your brake light isn't stuck on that's how I found it.

Just got back from going to get gas and EVERYTHING is working!!

WOW I don't understand but I like it.

 

I believe there is a way to pull codes to find out what the last 10 (I think) times the cruise disengaged, what disengaged it.

The next time this happens check to see if your brake light is on. This was an intermittent problem for me, whenever the cruse would cut out the brake light was on. This went on for quite a while then all of a sudden the foot brake wouldn’t light up the brake light or disengage the cruse.

I had the sensor replaced (under warranty) and have not had any problems since.

 

The same thing happened to me. Cruise would not come on except my check engine lite came on too. It was intermittent. I took it to the dealer and they had to change a micro switch in the cruise control. I had it go out once again coming back from Colorado. The same thing, cruise quit and the check engine lite again. Changed out the micro switch and everything worked. It has been about 10 months and it is OK so far.

 

mine was the fuse contacts...... you know the metal "holes/slots" the fuse slides into.

it as loose, i would push the fuse in and the contacts would push a way, so the fuse was only making contact once in a while. that was the first time.

the second time it was a bad switch, the switch breaks (inside) easily.

 

My cruise stopped working at 10,000 miles and again at 20,000 miles. Both times covered with the warranty.
