Default Limp Mode

Coming home 3 hour ride 1/2 way home bike dies to idle. I stop turn off then on and hit the road 10 minutes later it happened again in limp mode no throttle. restart did this 2 more times. I pulled the PCV and went back to stock configeration on the ECU. 10 miunutes later again shut down and bike stayed in permenent limp mode. Loaded on tow truck and hauled home. The codes as I am told are the FBW throttle. I have one coming in the mail. Any one else have an issue like this and does a new Throttle position switch (FBW)fix this issue, or could it be something else. Thanks for any info you can share.

Just finished troubleshooting this same issue with my bike a couple months ago. Started with the twist grip sensor, then the throttle wiring. When the codes kept coming, the MOCO had the shop replace a couple of pins in the ECM. When the codes kept coming, the MOCO said to replace the Kill switch....no problems since then.

Good luck to you. PM if you want more details.

I saw it happen (exactly as you describe)to a buddy on a 09 SG. Problem was loose wiring at the battery/throttle connection at the battery terminal. They said it was factory problem.

Once you install the throttle sensor it needs to be calibrated by the stealer.

Buddy of mine on a 08 Road King had this happen to him when I was riding with him. Shop said the connector going into throttle body (think this was what it was) right behind the A/C was loose. Maybe he can chime in on this thread if he sees it.
