Good review frrom a writer who didn't think he would like a Harley.
I didn't think I would ever see that happen.

Neither did I...but I think that's what really makes the review credible.

Don't have one but am a RG fan for sure. One review I read was a big negative on the ride.
Not the handling but the roughness largely due to the lowering in the rear. Easily fixed tho by changing to longer shocks.

I still get annoyed when they complain about the "unsafe kickstand"--- thought the bike was gonna fall!!!!! I have read that in so many magazines over the years. Does't any body give these jounalists a quick rundown of bike ops. All they have to do is look at it- it even looks like it locks, any one with any mechanical knowledge should see that. It is the only really safe kickstand in the industry!!

A very good review. Better than the members here usually give it as a matter of fact. I've had one for ten years now and love it. I owned numerous batwing classics and ultras before buying mine.

Love the RG's although the his & hers in garage are both RKC's currently. His write-up was great in that it validated the HD cruiser set-up from a point-of-view we rarely see.

Myth busted!

I have always been a fan of frame mounted fairings (ala Road Glide). The old fork mounted Batwing fairing puts about 40 lbs of extra weight on the front frok. It is an accident waiting to happen (as one police officer here found out - he had a fatal accident). The lack of extra weight on the fork contributes to the RGs excellent handling.

I have always converted my RGs into Ultras with the addition of of tour packs, lowers, CB, etc. Each year our general manager would go to the H-D dealers show in July and try to get an Ultracized version of the RG from the factory. Each year they would say yes, and each year they would not do it. Now the RG line, except for the custom version, has been discontinued. So much for good sense. The bottom line rules. If the bean counters say that a product will not add to the bottom line, then it doesn't happen.

......... can't imagine that an RG set up like an LTD wouldn't be at least as profitable as the LTD itself is.
.... Maybe alternate the years that they're available & neither eats into the others sales.

Sorry, the bean counters have spoken and it does not matter what you imagine. The alternate year thing will not happen.
