Default Could they..Would they?

Just a thought. We Road Glide owners know the advantages of the frame mounted fairing versus the fork mounted fairing. Although I do like and prefer the wind protection provided by the batwing fairing versus my shark nose. Is there a way, or would it even be feasible for the Motor Company to produce a frame mounted Batwing fairing? Could they...Would they?

It took them forever to listen to the RG fan club with the Ultra package, Just thinking that if everyone said the same thing and wanted the batwing frame mounted, it maybe around 2015 or so until it happened! Just my .02!

You of course wouldn't have the same effect of cutting through the wind as the sharknose does, frame mounted or not.

Could they, would they? The real question is "Why would they?". Like Dawg said, I don't think it would change anything about the wind protection. I'm sure the cost of engeneering the "new" batwing would be too much for the little or no advantages.

Had one on my 08 FJR and it was pretty slick, but I just don't know how good one would look on a Harley with its more classic lines, and that's a whole lot of engineering going on too.

Yamaha FJR/BMW RT, LT/Honda Gold Wing sure, but not sure if Harley would go that way. (???)

They would have to make an all new fairing model. Maybe possible to do something with the Road Glide fairing but probably not the batwing. Gauges, radio and stuff will get in the way of the shield.

It sure would... I had one on my BMW K1200GT, which was a sweet ride...

As it is engineered now, a moving windshield wouldn't fit...

I don't think the things people like about the batwing would be achievable if it were frame mounted. Batwing lovers prefer having the fairing close to them and that's what keeps them more out of the wind. If it were frame mounted it would have to be further away from the rider. So a frame mounted batwing would have the better handling of the roadglide but similar or worse wind protection and would probably look stupid stuck out in front as it doesn't wrap around like the sharknose does.
