10,000 Mile Service?????
#21
My dealer does a FULL service at all mileage intervals. Even includes copies of the manual pages with check marks for critical fasteners. That said, at $300 it's overkill to do that every 5,000 miles, so I change the fluids myself every other service and let them do their thing every so often. This has two effects. One is I have peace of mind that they've done a more thorough job than I could do. Two is that having them involved with the bike buys me a relationship that could result in favorable warrantee issues due to my loyalty to them and their hands having been on the bike somewhat regularly. It works both ways when it comes to the dealer standing by you when you have an issue. Nevertheless, $450 is ridiculous for this service. I thought $300 was a lot.

For my 2 cents worth....almost 33,000 miles. Just oil changes never been back to the dealer except for tires etc.......do my own fluids. At 50 k I'll use the dealer to change the brake fluid and front wheel bearings, front end fluid change, and swing arm bushings.. I use it as a commuter. No problems.............
