Default How do I adjust idle speed?

Fired up the bike first time this season and it has a bit of a slow idle - idles at 750-800. If I am not mistaken, the idle should be at about 900?

I did have my dealer replace the cam and shoes (whole oem kit) this winter - is setting the idle part of this process and if so, should they adjust that for free?

Otherwise, how do I set the idle?

Thanks.

I had a '99 Aztec Orange RK Beautifull bike. If it's FI there is an idle screw if I'm not mistaken. Cold idle also.

The dealer should have done all that.

On a carb it is the screw on the carb. IF EFI there is a way as well. Which one is it?

Need a manual. Do not adjust cold fast idle. Be sure it's warmed up and ridden. You could have a speck of crud built up in the carb and it may just clear itself. DO NOT ADJUST ON SCREWS TILL YOU UNDERSTAND THE CORRECT ONE. Only the warm running idle. I assume the idle speeds you quote mean carb. The FI does not have and adjustment. Never adjust the FI throttle plate. It should be closed at idle. The IAC controls the air throught it with the computer.

Thanks all - bike is in fact an MM EFI. I do know a couple years ago the previous owner had the dealer do a stage one flash so maybe something needs to be done there. Sounds like idle adjustment was or should have been a part of the process with the work that was done this winter - they should probably adjust that for free. I will call them.

Pull your filter and clean your throttle body first. That may very well be all you need to do. There's 2 small holes in the center that tend to clog up with crud. The M&M's are notorious for this. Been there, done that.
