A generic answer would be that a scraping noise from the brakes usually indicates the pads are worn out.

But you need to give a little more information, such as when the noise occurs (brakes on, brakes off, or all the time).

How many miles since the brakes were replaced?

And you also need to tell us what year and model bike is.

Some noise is to be expected when doing this, and it will never be completely quiet.

But it's still possible what your hearing is not normal.

Mine did that (made a scraping sound) right after I changed the pads. Put a few miles on them and the sound went away. Normal?
