Default More cam questions... again

Just bought a new 2012 Road Glide Custom and already making plans aesthetically and for better performance. Wondering what the real world difference is going to be for the following cams in the 103. Would you run the Andrews 54, Andrews 37, Wood 5-6 or the Tman 555 Torqster? I've read that the Wood cams have super fast ramps and can run a little on the noisy side but I could be persuaded to run them if there was a substantial reason to do so. The 54's come in just a little bit later than I would like but have not ruled them out. Are the 37's available in the 1" journal for the late model TC's? The Tman looks pretty good going on the limited knowlege I have of cams. Anyone running these?

I'm running the Woods TW-555 in my Street Glide, I think it's as quiet, if not quieter than it was stock. It pulls some serious torque and is a blast to ride. JMO ...

I'm curious why you have ruled out the se255 cams, since you obviously have some experience with them? I think there are better cams for the 103 motors, but there's certainly lots of happy owners running around with them in their bikes.

Some of the Woods cams have a reputation for being noisy (TW8 comes to mind), but not all are. The TW5 cams don't share that reputation, and are a very good fit as a stage II cam for the 103 bikes. They will hit hard, similar to the 255s, and will hang on a little longer. The CR575 cams are also worth a look. I still feel the best SE cam for the 103 bikes is the 204..

That's a great looking sheet on the 107 with the Andrews 54s earlier in the thread, but in a stock 103er, at about 9.6 static compression, the results won't be quite as spectacular.

My sentiments exactly on the 107 with 54 build and the results not being as good on a 103 with stock compression ect. I ruled the 255's out because I had some heat issues with them in my 96" RKC. I had a race tuner and Id put it on 2 different dynos with 2 different operators 3 different times and they said it was not the tune. Another thing I didnt like was I had a dip in TQ curve right in the spot I didnt want it. I was running a 2-1 T-header and one of the techs said it was my exhaust causing the dip but I was under the impression that the 2-1 pipe would help with this problem, not hurt it. My numbers were good with the 255's at 104 ft lbs TQ at 3280 rpm but the dip before the 3280 sucked...

I agree with B'dude on the SE204; very underrated cam and know and have helped several guys with SE255 installs with a 103" upgrade with very good results. Of the cams you listed, I think TMans "Torkster" is the better choice if SE cams don't float your boat but would suggest a look at the Andrews 48 and the new S&S line.

A local builder/porter/tuner has a Dyna that is running one of the S&S EZ start cams; 583 I think. Anyway, he had a torque dip, a little left of 1931jamesw. He was running a 2:1 exhaust, forgot which system, but he replaced it with the new Bassani Series II Road Rage and where he had the torque dip before, he picked up 22TQ; not bad for a pipe change and retune. I think the Bassani systems are worth taking a look at.

I thought and still think the T-header was the best sounding exhaust available. I know that is just my opinion. Ive listened to the Bassani and it was pretty good but I think the D&D sounds better and performance is supposed to be good for all of them. Which pipe would work best? Would I have the same problem again if I ran a T-header? djl, I just started looking at the CR575's and the S&S551's. I'll also take a look at the 204's but how do I know which will be best and with what pipe?
