Default Break lever bushing has no part number...

Hi All,

I need some help with a part number. I sent my break levers to be powder coated and as I was stripping them down, I ruined the bushing in the brake lever.

The break lever bushing fits where the pivot pin goes through the lever and is in the same location on the brake as part #14 shown in the clutch diagram:
http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche....dmc&A=664&B=22

Here is the brake diagram and the bushing that I had was pressed into the hole that the pivot pin #11 goes through:
http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche....dmc&A=664&B=23

I pushed the bushing out because it would have melted during powder coating. Anyone know how to track this part down? It looks like a top hat with the top of the hat missing so that pin can go through it..

THx!

Are you looking at the correct microfiche? Looking in my '06 parts manual the bushing is 45423-96.

I had my brake lever PCed and had the same problem. I never found the real part. I ended up taking an older one and cutting it down with an exacta knife.

THe links above were for an 09 FLHR as the site didn't have the 09 FLHP. I tried the 2010 FLHP and they were the same as 09 FLHR...no part number for what I am looking for.

I do not see a part number for it either. Does HD really use a different sized bushing for the Brake and the clutch? One suggestion would be to measure up what you need and find it at Mcmaster-Carr. Check this link out:

If you look at the microfiche for an 09 VRSC which uses the same lever, it shows it as being part #7, but when you go down into the listing, there is no listing for #7. Even a breakdown of an HD accessory lever kit shows it as not being sold separately. The old inserts for the older levers with the mushroom top might work

It's a stock Harley part 45423-96. It is a wearing part, dealer should have them in stock.

My clutch lever has been sloppy for a long time. I've been meaning to take it off and see what's in there. This thread has finally got me off my #$% and get it done. I took it apart, and of course found the bushing was worn. Being lazy, I just wrapped it with electrical tape and stuck it back in. Tightened it right up. Less than 5 mins. I guess I'll see how long it last.

I offered a part # from my parts manual. dawg is a parts guy with more knowledge and access. I was at my dealer this morning and checked out the bushing. They are in stock for about $3.00. It's a cheap risk to try it. BTW, I also checked out the HD accessory lever kits that dawg mentioned, which is why I suggested part#45423-96. I also found this which gives the part #45423-96 in the parts list, but also states: For model fitment information, please see the P&A Retail Catalog or the Parts and Accessories section of www.harleydavidson.com (English only) which only makes it harder to determine which model the kit does fit. The MoCo can't make it easy. WTF did you contribute?
