Default Another Broken Fender Bracket

Two years ago, while I was in Arizona on extended work travel, the left rear fender/bag rail support bracket broke on my 06RG.

I had it welded back together but it broke again a couple days later. I had it welded again and an extra piece welded on it to give it more strength. So far, no problems. Yesterday morning, went out and started the bike up and noticed the right rear bag was shaking quite a bit. Took a closer look and the bracket was broken on it.
My next door neighbor has a mig welder so it was a quick trip over there after taking the bracket off the bike to get it fixed with a backing plate welded on for added measure.
I suppose the Harley engineers are aware of the problem but probably figured, "no problem, the owners know how to fix it, so no action required on our part".

Man...another area on these beauties requiring refabrication, You may need to get creative and re-design that whole area. Its what we gotta do if we want to own a beautiful but outdated motorcycle. Someone needs to come up with a gear setup for the primary like they did for the cam area, whoever does with get rich on sales with me being the first in line.

I had the same problem. I now know that installing one takes some crafting and making sure there is no stress in the alignment. I used extra washers to make it right. So far so good and hoping for many more miles!!!

Welded my left bracket for the second time yesterday. I'm going to have to reinforce it I'm sure. Definately not buying a new one just to have it break as well.
