Default Screamin Eagle Cam Tensioner / Oil Pump Upgrade

When I installed this kit on my 01 Ultra Classic my first engine start sounded as if the oil pump had not sufficiently primed itself with oil and the lifters were not yet pressurized. Starting and stopping the engine 2x resulted in pressurizing the oil system. As I expect to upgrade another bike in the near future I want to avoid a repeat of my first experience. Other than turning the engine over several times without turning on the ignition are there any other steps I should take to prime the oil pump?

Thanks!

With both spark plugs removed, turn the engine over with the starter until you have good oil pressure. Reinstall the plugs and start it. Remember you have to fill the oil fliter if you changed it before you have good pressure.

If the bike is a Road King and no oil pressure gauge how will I know when the oil system has pressurized?

Thanks!

Soak the lifters in oil the night before, than cycle the motor over a few times by hand with the rear wheel.
