Dunlop sidewall cracking

Dunlop sidewall cracking
There have been a number of recent posts about the HD 407/408 tires and sidewall cracking, often with very few miles. Since this has become a recent topic I wonder if it's a bad batch they produced. For those affected, is it both front and rear or just one end. Are any other sizes affected or just new models of the big touring bikes? Also, since the Dunlop American Elite is the same tire without the HD markings, has anyone had cracking on that tire?
I have over 21K on the stock front 408 and no cracking. I am on my 2nd 407, got 12.7 from the 1st one, and it's OK. Based on tread depth I expect 2-4K more from both ends. Plans were to go to the Dunlop AE, but if they are having problems I am not going that route. Option B was the Michelin Commander II. Local Kawasaki dealer will sell them for about the same price as after market suppliers and I support local business. They also will mount and balance for $35 each end, I bring wheel in. Not going to go with the HD branded 407/408 since the dealer "won't deal" and a sidewall emblem is of no value.
So back to the question, is it 407/408 front and rear cracking and has anyone had the Dunlop American elite in those sizes crack?
