Default Markup on tires

Wow my dealer just shot me the price on a new rear tire for my RKC. $220 plus tube and mount and balance. In the neighborhood of $300 all said and done (HD website shows $195 but says price varys). Ordered the same tire from Motorcycle superstore for $142.99 and free shipping. If they can do that and make a profit then HD is really gouging on tires.

Nothing new about H-D gouging for P&A. I picked up a new leather jacket from my local dealer this weekend for 50% off, and if you shop around just a little bit, you can get up to 25% off H-D stuff every day.

And some dealers get insulted that we refer to them as stealers!

Yep, got a flat 1,800 miles from home in Temecula, Ca a few weeks ago. $300 to replace. Local dealer gets a little over $200. Luckily I had road hazard....

Never buy from the dealer if you can help it. Patriot HD quoted me $800 for tires and installation. Eastern Performance quoted me$530! That's $270 less!

But, won't your mail order tires void your warranty?

Ha Ha warrantys done anyway. I didnt purchase an extended. I dont mind the price of the mounting and balancing and I Dont consider my dealer a stealer. My problem is with HD setting the price on these tires so high you're almost forced to buy elsewhere or consider yourself an idiot. I dont mind a buck or two extra to maintain a good relationship with my dealer as they have treated me better at times than they were legally if not morally required to but $80 dollars difference is ridiculous.
