Reverse Gear for FLHTCU(Ultra Classic Electra Glide)?
#31
I just purchased a 2013 Ultra Classic. The first thing I did when I ordered the bike was order the Baker F6R reverse kit. It ran me about $1600 plus the installation which is estimated at about 8 hours so it's not a cheap upgrade. My current ride is a 2003 Goldwing which does comes standard with a factory installed reverse. Having reverse on a large touring bike is a must have IMHO. No worries on how and where you park. Just had to have it on the new ride because I'm used to having it.
I chose Baker because they have a solid reputation and it doesn't have the ugly shift handle. Mine is being installed at the dealer who also recommended upgrading the clutch from the cable type to the hydraulic type. So if you go with the Baker keep that in mind as it will cost you extra. I also had to update the clutch lever as well because the hydraulic clutch uses a different lever and the kit doesn't come with the aluminum levers. Ended up upgrading clutch and brake levers to chrome so they would match.
Again, IMO it's a worthwhile upgrade whether you go with the Baker or any of the other kits you are considering.

I just purchased a reverse kit from Motor Trike. I think it is almost idenctical to the champion but this also includes a wiring harness to kill the engine should the reverse and 1st gear is attempted to be used at the same time. Also made in USA! $1395 I will install it myself. Looks fairly easy to me.
